Wasted Keys was formed from the recurring ashes of music getting put on the back burner. My two chief musical inspirations were classical and metal and since I am a one-man show primarily on piano, it wasn’t easy to achieve the symphonic rock sound that I loved to listen to.
Instead, I began to play around with metal covers on piano several years ago and crafted a fusion of the classical piano sonata with the intensity of Gothic metal. The diametrically opposed genres eventually started talking to each other and the dark romance of Wasted Keys was born.
I play almost entirely by ear, although I do write my own compositions out.
